Okay after you must have created a new blog, I gathered a list of basic things you should consider editing before making your first post. Let's go.
1.) Title And Description: Your blog is as good as unknown if you leave this unattended too, yes it will run on the title you gave while registering but definitely no description which will be a dent on the professional appearance of your brand, plus would do some damage when googles search bots comes crawling for info to display to the world so you should head on to your blogger dashboard, click settings, then basic and you will find Title and Description waiting as the first two to be edited, edit and click save changes.

2.) Posts, Comments, Sharing: You will find the menu to edit this by clicking settings in the dashboard too, here you can:
- Choose how many posts you want showing per page in front page
- Choose who can comment
- Set Comment Moderation Preferences
- You can add a comment form message, e.g kindly drop a comment above the comment form
And a number of other settings related to posting.

3.) Language And Formatting: Also under settings. Here you can choose a default language for your blog, set the time zone and time+date display formats.

4.) Search Preferences: Here you can edit Meta Tags and set some other things which I will not advise that you touch if you are a beginner, just edit the meta tags to keywords that match your blog niche.

And those are the basic things I'd advise you customize for the now before making your first post. Get to it.
